DBs at Angoulême in 1955

I always had a weak spot for these little French sporty cars, the DBs in particular because they have such beautiful bodies – look at the superb lines of this 1954 DB mono with central seat (chassis #798). It was powered by an air-cooled Panhard 4CV engine which brought the 430 kg car (dry-weight) to a speed of well over 175 Km/h. This DB was one of five entered for the ’54 Le Mans race and took 10th place overall and first on Index driven by Elie Bayol and René Bonnet.

The picture here was taken at the Circuit des Remparts at Angoulême in June 1955 where it was driven by Paul Armagnac. The other DB is #804.
